Curried Peas, Lucky Me!

Yield: 2 baby servings, 2 tablespoons (30 g) each

Most babies like the taste of a mild curry, but you can omit the spice if you wish. Also, a thicker purée can be achieved by reducing the amount of breast milk or formula.

1⁄4 cup (33 g) frozen peas
1 heaping tablespoon (15 to 20 g) plain yogurt
1⁄8 teaspoon mild curry powder
1⁄4 cup (60 ml) breast milk or formula

Microwave Method: Cook and drain frozen peas according to package instructions. Mix together all ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave 10 to 15 seconds, until warm. Mash with a fork and serve.

Each serving (if using breast milk) contains: 42.0 calories; 1.7 g total fat; 0.9 g saturated fat; 5.8 mg cholesterol; 10.6 mg sodium; 5.0 g carbohydrates; 0.8 g dietary fiber; 1.5 g protein; 24.4 mg calcium; 0.3 mg iron; 152.5 IU vitamin A; and 2.7 mg vitamin C.
